Chocolate Pumpkin Cake

Why do they try to make recipes so complicated? I have been looking for months for a recipe for pumpkin cake with chocolate. Something simple and fast. I finally found a delicious, easy to make pumpkin chocolate cake recipe. The picture shows cupcakes, but I made it as a cake and it was perfect. Just what I was looking for.

INGREDIENTS:

* 1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
* 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin
* 2 eggs
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 1 (16 ounce) container cream cheese frosting

Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores

I know I just posted, but I was watching the food channel last night and they had a show with Paula, Bobby Flay, Elton Brown, Tyler ( don’t know his last name) and Giada about Grilling on South Beach…the recipes were awesome.

Of course the chocolate smores caught my interest.  They look so good, that I will have to try them soon!

* Canola oil
* 3 bananas
* 10 store-bought chocolate chip cookies (the larger the better)
* 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
* 1 cup small marshmallows
* 1 cup chocolate chips

Toffee Brownies

Anyone who has read any of my recipes knows that I am a huge Paula Deen fan.   It is not just her personality, but her comfort food that draws me to her recipes.   Now everyone knows that chocolate is a woman’s best friend.   Forget everything you have heard in the past…it is chocolate.

Here is a recipe of Paula’s that will make you drool with a chocolate high!   I did make a change with mine though when I made it, because I am not a huge Toffee fan, I substituted Caramel.   Yummy!

Ice Cream….Summer of 2009

Last year I made a post on the joys of homemade Ice Cream.  My husband had received an ice cream maker as a gift and since that time the Ice Cream literally is flowing in my home.

I love Ice Cream and some of the concoctions he has come up with are delicious…others not so good.

Summertime is a perfect time to make ice cream with the kids (or without).   Knowing what goes into your Ice Cream is half the battle towards enjoying old favorites.   Here are one of the more popular ice cream recipes:

Peanut Butter Temptations

Peanut butter tarts with a chocolate covered peanut butter cup in the middle. You will need a mini muffin pan to make these.
Yield: 3 dozen
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
36 miniature chocolate covered peanut butter cups, unwrapped

Black and White Brownies

I am fan of chocolate, white, milk, dark, sweet, semi-sweet…just plain love chocolate.  Of course as most of us women know it is good for us.  There is medical proof!

Anyway I was looking for a new brownie recipe for the holidays and came across this one.  Made them last night, oooh myyy are they good!

Mississippi Chocolate & Coffee Cake

RECIPE INGREDIENTS
For the Cake:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch salt
1 3/4 cups strong brewed coffee
1/4 cup bourbon
5 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Chocolate Icing:
6 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate
4 1/2 tablespoons butter

DIRECTIONS
FOR THE CAKE:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Oil a 9-inch round cake pan. Line pan with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

A Simple Birthday Cake!

Birthday Cakes can be traced back to the ancient Greeks who made round or moon shaped honey cakes or bread and took it to the temple of Artemis -the Goddess of Moon.

Still others believe that the tradition of Birthday cake started in Germany in Middle Ages. Sweetened bread dough was given the shape of baby Jesus in swaddling cloth and was used to commemorate his birthday. This special birthday cake later reemerged in Germany as a Kinderfest or the birthday celebrations of a young child. Germans also baked another special kind of a cake called Geburtstagorten as it was baked in layers. This was sweeter that the coarse and bread like cake that were usually made at that time.
