It’s Another Winner

When my husband said he wanted to make me some brownies I told him all right.  After all who can pass up brownies.

Little did I know he was browsing for new recipes again.  OMG!  These are to die for (not literally), but they are really, really, good.  So rich and chocolaty, and mix in the peanut butter…my two favorite things…you have to try these.

Mississippi Mud Brownie Recipe

Nothing says comfort food as much as Chocolate.  And nothing says chocolate better than Brownies.

It is a scientific fact that women need chocolate to make them feel better.  I don’t really care what all technical jargon is or why it makes us feel better, just happy that it does and I have a very good reason to eat it.

This brownie recipe was sent to me by a friend, not sure where she got it, and really don’t care.  This is wonderful.  I would suggest not sharing these with your kids though, these are for you only.

Help! Cookie Lost!

Several years ago we bought a cookie from some local bakeries that are now out of business.  I will describe them and if anyone has the recipe or knows what they are called, I would greatly appreciate you posting here.

They are three inch logs made up of a chocolate cake with banana flavoring.  Once the cookie is baked it was dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with candied sugar.

I have looked everywhere for either the cookie or the recipe and cannot find it anywhere.  The family remembers these cookies and would like to know either how to make them or where we can purchase them in the Detroit area.

Cookie Time!

Two Sundays before Christmas has become somewhat of a tradition in our family for two of our children to come to our house and bake cookies.   Jenn and Pat have done this together for the past 15 years or so.

My husband and I are not allowed to comment, make suggestions, or watch.

This year the results of their afternoon are Swedish Nut Cups, Russian Tea Cakes and of course Thumbprint Cookies.  I am told that our daughter, Jenn, has the perfect size thumb for the Thumbprint cookies.   It is a lot of fun, but the cookies are generally gone within a day or two.

Pumpkin Bars

It is Pumpkin time once again. What most people seem to forget about the pumpkin is that it is not just a Jack-O-Lantern. A friend of mine never used canned pumpkin, she always quartered a fresh pumpkin and cooked it down until it was mushy.

I tried doing it her way with a slow cooker, and it was all right, but give me a can any day! Why go through all that work yourself, when someone else has done it for you. Anyway here is a great recipe for pumpkin other than pie.

Christmas Cookie Traditions

Christmas traditions are part of every family experience. Whether it is spending time shopping, going to parties, staying home with family and friends these traditions are important.

They are important because they give continuity to family. Something you can look forward to year after year. Something your parents did, your grandparents and if you are very lucky your great-grandparents.

Apple Surprise

First of all I am sorry I don’t have a picture of this creation, but it was gone before I could get my camera out!

I had about 6 apples that were sitting and gradually becoming what I call “funky” You know what I mean, not quite rotten yet, still edible but no one wants to touch them for some unknown reason. So I needed a dessert last night as it was my 39th wedding anniversary and we never go out but I wanted something different.
